al-taawoun vs al-nassr
The 2024-25 Saudi Super Cup semi-final is set to play out this weekend with Al-Taawoun taking on Al-Nassr at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City on Wednesday evening. The winner of this match will move on to face either Al-Hilal or Al-Ahli in the final match on August 17. Let’s get into the prediction.
Owing to Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr finishing as the Saudi Pro League and King Cup winners and runners-up respectively, it was decided that the third and fourth-placed teams in the league standings would be included in the Super Cup.
Al-Taawoun therefore claimed the final spot by finishing fourth last season with 59 points, including a record of 16 wins, draws and seven losses in their 34 games across the term. The Wolves last featured in this competition in 2020 and were beaten by Al-Nassr on penalties.
The most recent encounter between these sides saw Al-Nassr secure a resounding 4-1 win in December last year but Al-Taawoun won the reverse fixture earlier in the season 2-0.
Meanwhile, Al-Nassr will be desperate to get their hands on this trophy after ending last season without silverware. They were beaten to the league and King Cup titles by Al-Hilal and only managed to reach the quarter-final of the AFC Champions League.
While the Knights of Najd are the current favourites at the books, this is not necessarily a forgone conclusion as these sides have split the last four encounters two wins apiece.
